Do you have a Federal Pacific Electrical (FPE) panel in your home? If so, experts and professional electricians strongly suggest that you update the panel. These panels have been investigated by the Consumer Product Safety Commission in the early 1980’s. The circuit breakers failed certain UL calibration test requirements. Even though the panels have been in service for years and appear to operate properly they have been linked too many house fires. In many cases the circuit breakers have failed to properly operate when circuits have been overloaded or during power surges.
